The biggest enemy to marine covers is the moisture that can become trapped in the off-season whilst a boat sits in storage. The effects of this accumulation of moisture can then be further aggravated when the cover is re-exposed to the sun. Many travel and storm covers manufactured from low grade materials will literally turn to dust following continuous alternating exposure to moisture and UV, costing the owner substantial amounts in repairs or, more often, replacement of the covers.
